My Firearms!
Had to sell this beauty to my friend Big Sam in February 2007, as I lost my prescription glasses at Parachute '07 and needed almost $1000 to replace them! See My Photos & Stories for more photos and stories about Big Sam and his fun with his new rifle! Remington 597 heavy duty stainless and laminated wood stock. Semi Auto 10 shot staggered mag, bipods, Parker Hale silencer, sling, BSA 4 to 24 powered scope. I use this for bunnies and long range shooting. It is deadly accurate out to 50 meters and can hit a matchbox constantly at this range. Accurate to 75 meters and beyond! This is a beautiful rifle. I wasn't happy with the heavy trigger, so replaced it with a 'target' hammer. Still a bit on the heavy side, but much better. This rifles loves to spit out sub-Sonics - 10 of them as fast as you can pull the trigger! The only problem with subs, at least the CCI ones that I use, is that they leave a lot of gun powder grit that clogs up the mechanism inside the rifle, even the magazine gets clogged up with it and stops working. This requires a good 'strip down' and clean around every 500 shots. An air compressor is ideal for this purpose. Be careful not to lose any springs or clips when using compressed air, and use eye and ear protection too. Rifles, especially semi-autos, should be bore cleaned after every shooting session. Remingtons are beautifully crafted rifles, and the quality has improved greatly over the last decade. However, I was not happy with the trigger guard and housing, which is plastic. Personally, I would think a Ruger 10-22 would be a better option, mainly due to the immense availability of aftermarket parts and modifications available.
